Smart Invoice is a crypto payment and escrow protocol that allows freelancers and companies in Web3 to efficiently secure payments. Payees create an invoice that is smart contract-backed and send it to their clients. The payor then deposits the funds, guaranteeing the availability of the amount due.
Upon successful completion of a milestone or the project, the client then can release the funds to the payee's wallet. In case a dispute arises, both parties can lock the funds in the smart contract and involve an arbitrator. At this point no payments or withdrawals can be made anymore. For a fee, the arbitrator then mediates between the parties to find a mutually beneficial agreement.
The safety valve ensures that projects, which were abandoned by the contractor do not indefinitely block the funds in the smart contracts underpinning Smart Invoice. Once the safety valve date is passed, neither party can lock funds and the client can withdraw any deposits from the Smart Invoice.
In this way, we are create a trustworthy payment gateway in trustless environments. Smart Invoice is non-custodial and runs decentralized on Ethereum Mainnet, Gnosis Chain, and Polygon.
